Spun Cotton Winter Fairy Mushroom Ornament

Every spun cotton fairy mushroom is made slowly and carefully by hand, so each one is unique and original, from gills to stalk. This is a whimsical interpretation of an amanita muscaria (fly agaric).

Winter mushrooms are brushed with the frostiest winter blue, and their gills and stalks are just barely dusted with a light, icy grey. They have a traditional German glass glitter and mica embellishment, with the addition of light blue German glass glitter to enhance their wintery shimmer.

Fairy mushroom ornaments are generally just under three inches tall. Traditional and Rustic Loop mushrooms come with a wire loop for hanging. Choose your favorite ornament hook, or purchase a custom made oxidized copper ornament hook from my web site. (Please be gentle with the paper wrapped white wires on the rustic loop mushrooms. They are sealed for strength but their finish is still more delicate than an unwrapped wire.)

Each mushroom ornament is made simply from fluffy cotton batting wrapped around wire and sealed with a paste made of starch and water. They are dusted with pastels to give them an icy appearance, and they are embellished traditionally, with German glass glitter and mica.
