Spun Cotton Doll Ornament, Karl

$120.00
Handcrafted with wonder and warm wishes from spun cotton. Spun cotton has its roots in 19th century Germany, where cotton ornaments were handmade at home to decorate the tree and to share with friends and neighbors.

Materials: Wire, Cotton, Starch, Clay, Paint, Water, German Glass Glitter, Mica.

Created for display as either a doll or an ornament, entirely handmade and one of a kind. Karl will come to you dated and nestled snugly in a lovely protective box. Doll ornaments are generally just over five inches tall. They are all able to stand and do not require hanging, though some may require minor support when standing.

Every doll ornament comes strung on a cord which is suitable for hanging. Custom made oxidized copper ornament hangers may be purchased separately here.

Each doll ornament is made simply from fluffy cotton batting wrapped around a wire armature and sealed with a paste made of starch and water. They have hand painted clay faces and are embellished traditionally, with German glass glitter and mica.

Karl is wearing black boots and olive pants. He has a salmon colored coat, a tan sweater, and black mittens. His hat and scarf are olive. He has brown eyes and blond hair, and he's cradling a stash of snowballs in his left arm while throwing with his right.
